It started with a few moms and their jogging strollers in Central Park. Now fifteen years old, Strollercize offers more than 100 year-round fitness classes in gyms as well as outdoors. (Classes in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park have just started up.) While there are plenty of mom-and-baby yoga classes around town, truth is, many of them are more about bonding with the newborn than building killer glutes. Strollercize is all about you: The kid stays strapped in while mom gets a hard-core workout targeting postnatal problem spots (hello, abs!)—not to mention the rare thrill of getting out of the house. Come for the workout and stay for cocktails; the fitness franchise has spawned a rather formidable social network, with informal events like knitting groups, margarita nights, and movie nights—kids welcome, of course.
