Take the Staten Island Ferry or Staten Island Railroad to St. George Ferry Terminal.
This 7,171-seat ballpark is home to the Staten Island Yankees, the Bronx Bombers’ minor league affiliate in the New York-Penn League. Opened in 2001 and located next to the St. George Ferry Terminal, the stadium has a below-street level playing field, which means its brown brick exterior rises just two stories, putting every fan within reach of the ultimate souvenir: a foul ball. Family-friendly options include the Legends Picnic Pavilion near the visitors bullpen and a play area for kids at the left field entrance. No modern stadium—even in the low minor leagues, apparently—is complete without luxury suites, and there are 19 at this ballpark, all equipped with temperature controls, a refrigerator, and a satellite TV. (Each of the main suites pays tribute to the major league Yankee most associated with its number; Suite 8 is dedicated to Hall of Famer Yogi Berra, who autographed one of its walls.) The Skyline Suite, a larger box down the first base line, offers an especially picturesque view of Lower Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty, not to mention the endless parade of cargo ships passing just beyond the outfield wall. The stadium is periodically reconfigured to accommodate concerts—the Beach Boys as well as Sugar Ray are among past performers—by placing a stage behind second base in short center field.
ShopThe team souvenir shop can be found on the wide concourse at the main entrance behind home plate.
9/11 Memorial
Beyond the left-center field fence is the Staten Island 9/11 Memorial, which pays tribute to Staten Islanders who lost their lives at the World Trade Center.
