No need to scale a fence to replicate the illicit pool party in Kids. Just stroll past the lobby of André Balazs’s Hotel QT into a narrow bar that amounts to a Park City spa in miniature with its blonde-wood walls and ceilings, pillow-dotted velveteen banquettes, and fluorescent amber glow. With a tart blackcurrant margarita in hand, you can then climb a few steps to a boxy room where ample bleachers overlook couples frolicking in a small underlit pool while episodes of Miami Vice play on a projection screen and D.J.’s from outfits like Giant Step and Touch of Class spin. Should the chlorine smell kill your buzz, climb a few more steps to the mezzanine, grab a spritzy glass of Honeysuckle at the second bar, and roll your Eames chair over the modernist striped carpet and up to one of the semi-circular booths under the purple-tinged skylights. Though they offer a nice bird’s eye view of the action, the steam room and sauna are better for your detox tomorrow than they are for your imbibing tonight.
Dress TipsAmerican Apparel swimsuits are sold at the front desk; robes and towels are provided for hotel guests.
On Thursday nights at this comedy venue, $7 gets you no less than four shows, pizza is free, and beer is a buck.

Best of NY: Nightlife From a great first-date bar to the hands-down best martini in New York City.
