The Garden of Ono may be hidden behind high cement walls at the foot of the glimmering Gansevoort Hotel, but like a lot of secret nightspots, the aesthetic of this sophisticated outdoor lounge is anything but subtle. An offshoot of Ono, the sprawling pan-Asian restaurant owned by Jeffrey Chodorow (Asia de Cuba, China Grill), the Garden is open from May through September, weather permitting. The buzz died down a while back but Ono still attracts crushingly stylish 20-somethings and moneyed hot shots who spring for bottle service in plush cabanas. (Each one comes complete with a small, LCD-screen television.) Waitresses keep the liquor flowing—shuttling between a raised seating area and the bar in white shorts and red tops. In colder months, you can duck inside to taste from Ono's extensive sake list, but as long as it's warm enough, stay outside to enjoy the streamlined Garden menu, which includes three martinis, three flute-style cocktails, and some invigorating mixed drinks. — Veronica Cooper
