operas: Ned Rorem's Three Sisters Who Are Not Sisters, Virgil Thompson's Capital Capitals (both with texts by Stein) and the hworld premiere of William Banfield and Karen LaLonde Alenier's jazz-influenced Gertrude Stein Invents a Jump Early On, which begins at a party hosted by Picasso in 1908 and ends during World War II.
